Overlooking Sandaig (Gavin Maxwell's 'Camusfearna')

The cottage from the garden
More details

There are a few travelling shops; the mobile bank
calls weekly. Murdo and and Macrae, who
live next
door, are a source of information about the cottage
and how it works, as well as the area. A local
friend, David Lee, lives 200 metres from the cottage
and is also available if any problems arise.

Visitors receive our own booklets, "Welcome to
John Fisher's Cottage
" and "A Personal Guide to
Kintail & Wester Ross" (on the area). Our notice-
board in the cottage has full information about the
neighbourhood, public services and emergency help.

Fuel is included in the price. Solid fuel fires are not available. Water come from the local burn (through pipes, not by pails!). We enjoy its taste and we have never had any problems with it (Murdo Macrae has drunk it for 88 years and is very young for his age), but if you are concerned, use bottled water.

A z-bed is available for a child if needed. We also have some baby facilities (including a cot). Each bed has two pillows and a duvet; visitors must bring their own sheets, pillowcases and towels (these can be provided with some difficulty at extra cost if requested in advance).

Broadband and telephone
We now have a telephone in the cottage offering free calls to visitors (01599 511 310). We also have an internet connection which is also available free for visitors.

Our insurance requires that the maximum number
which the cottage will sleep is six adults. There is
a no smoking policy
and we regret that pets are
not allowed
, however well behaved. We regret
we cannot make any exceptions to these rules.

A cleaner calls between bookings, but visitors are
expected to leave the cottage clean and tidy.
David Lee checks through the cottage between
lettings and acts on our behalf.

The cottage may only be booked from Saturday to Saturday. It must be vacated on the last Saturday by 10.30 and may be occupied from 3.30 on the first Saturday. Bookings must be in writing and accompanied by a booking form and deposit of £60 for each of the weeks booked. Cheques should be made payable to "John Fisher's Cottage". Those coming from outside the United Kingdom can use our PayPal account or we can supply bank details for bank credit transfers.
